Bev Powell has had a devotion to art since her early
childhood in the beautiful and scenic, tropical Panama Canal Zone of Central America.
She believes much of the feel for light and floral colors spring from this
memorable period amongst vivid blossoms and luminescent jungle butterflies, shadowy rain
forests and blue, transparent waters. In later childhood, life in a farm community
developed an interest in animal art, partiularly in horses.
Bev studied Fine Art at the University of Colorado,
graduating in 1970. In the years since, she has studied by books, practice, and the
use of a fanciful imagination. Dramatic lighting and dynamic composition are a major
focus for her art, coupled with fantasy themes.
